I am a music lover with a website where I sell over 10,,000 items of music memorabilia (www.musiccollecting.com) including records (LPs, 45rpm, 78rpm), sheet music, photos, posters, books, magazines, etc. I have also written Jazz Expose: The New York Jazz Museum and the Power Struggle That Destroyed. I was the founder and Executive Director of the Museum (www.NYJazzMuseum.com). I have other websites where I sell books and African American items. There are links to these sites on www.musiccollecting.com

I just received the books yesterday, and as a former member of the Museum (I still have my membership card from 1975-76), I have been unable to put the book down, as I find the Museum's story very fascinating! I distinctly remember the Coltrane and Basie exhibits, which I visited, and I also remember one of the Sunday afternoon concerts (in October, 1974, when I heard vibraphonist Warren Chiasson. This was during the Coltrane exhibit, and I also recall that Chiasson's bassist on this occasion was Coltrane alumnus Jimmy Garrison). The book also brought back several other memories, including Ray Nance's solo album (which I purchased at your Jazz Shop) and (among your News Items), saxophonist/flutist Mary Fettig with the Stan Kenton band (I attended Kenton's week-long Jazz Orchestra In Residence at Towson University, near Baltimore, during the summer of 1973, and she was very much a part of that). Although I never made it to the Museum's two later locations, I remember West 55th Street very well, and I was saddened to hear of the building's fate. Sincerely, Robert J. Robbins USA Secretary, Big Bands International
