It doesn't matter how, as long as you did it!

By Craig Fenton

With all the negativity one faces from the time they are in school through the job seeking years, it is no surprise that people don't always have the ability to climb the mountain. Maybe if the teacher wouldn't say- "That is the wrong answer" but would encourage feature participation by stating- "Good try, not what I was looking for however", we could build self-confidence.

I mention this because the other day I was having lunch out and a few people were at a table next to me. One of the folks was excited that they self-published a book. Wouldn't you know it there had to be somebody that couldn't keep their mouth shut. The first words should have been "Best of luck. I hope you sell a million copies." That would have been too intelligent. The brain surgeon told the writer "Self-publishing doesn't count. It isn't respected."

One of the greatest things I ever read and I am sorry for not having the person's name, was the following quote- "Is a college education any less if you didn't receive a scholarship and had to pay?" Whatever happened to the results and not how you got there?
For those of you that are writing and get a publisher, self-publish, print-on-demand, or read the book from a loudspeaker, you are all winners. Making an attempt should be as important as the final analysis. Good is good, bad is bad, and average is average. The fact that you got to see a project come to fruition made you a winner! Those that don't know what positive means are those you need not be around. Strive and you'll reach. Listen to idiots and you'll go down to their level.

May you always be well, Craig Fenton
