Book excerpt
FAMOUS PEOPLE ON SUCCESS (AND SOME NOT SO FAMOUS)

1) "Try not to be a man of success, but rather to be a man of value."
--Albert Einstein

Suggested Affirmation: "I am a man/woman of value, and living by my values is success."
Suggested Inquiry: Can one be successful if what one truly values is compromised?
Suggested Action: List the values you will live by in order to consider yourself successful.

2) "Good thoughts and good action lead to good results; bad thoughts and bad action can only lead to bad results." --Og Mandino

Suggested Affirmation: "I have good thoughts and I follow them up with good action."
Suggested Inquiry: Inquire into the statement that good thoughts are positive, bad thoughts negative, good action springs from positive thoughts and bad action springs from negative thoughts.
Suggested Action: Catch yourself when a negative thought crosses your mind, and cancel it out by purposely replacing it with a positive statement.

3) "You will be as small as your controlling desire, and as great as your dominate aspiration." --Emerson

Suggested Affirmation: "I aspire to be free from controlling desires."
Suggested Inquiry: Inquire into the statement that aspirations free one and desires control us.
Suggested Action: Write down what you aspire to.

4) "You need motivation, and persistence too." --Leon Uris

Suggested affirmation: "I succeed because I am motivated and I am persistent."
Suggested Inquiry: Inquire into the statement that motivation without persistence has one stop short of success.
Suggested Action: Restart a project or activity in which you were motivated but lacked persistence to bring you one step closer to success.

"'Impossible' is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it.  'Impossible' is not a fact.  It's an opinion. 'Impossible' is not a declaration.  It's a dare.  'Impossible' is potential.  'Impossible' is temporary.  'Impossible' is nothing."
