MISSION VIEJO, CA – When California native Marlayne Giron was in her early twenties, she began writing a story on her typewriter – cutting edge at the time – and now almost 30 years later, the novel is releasing nationwide to fulfill a longtime dream. The author says her book, “The Victor: A Tale of Betrayal, Love, and Sacrifice,” was inspired by an Amy Grant single called "Fairytale" as well as biblical themes. “I saw the epic battle between good and evil as described in the pages of the Bible in the form of a medieval fantasy-fiction story with a knight in ‘shining armor’ and a black knight crossing swords in a fierce struggle as to who would rule the lives of men,’” she explains. Marlayne Giron has teamed up with illustrator Cindy Jordan, who painted the construction mural for the Mission Viejo Public Library in the early 1990's and is currently creating artwork for the Mission Viejo Public Library 2009 Reader's Festival scheduled for this September. “The Victor” will be featured at the Book Festival, where both Giron and Jordan will be signing copies. Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book is available at any bookstore nationwide or can be ordered through the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore or by visiting barnesandnoble.com, amazon.com or target.com.
