NEW BOOK EMPOWERS SINGLE BLACK WOMEN WHO ARE LOOKING FOR LOVE TO FIND HERSELF FIRST

01/14/10
By Elayne Marchbanks

Many Black single women have spent years trying to ‘find’ the perfect mate, instead of acknowledging her own personal power and finding the perfection in herself. In her new book, YOU ARE THE ONE YOU'RE LOOKING FOR: Freedom from the Relationship Drama to an Empowered New You! (CreateSpace, Dec. 2009) Author, Elayne Marchbanks encourages women of color to embrace the qualities that make her special and unique and use them as an asset to attract partners who appreciate her uniqueness and reflect it.

CHICAGO/LOUISVILLE:   Many Black single women have spent years trying to ‘find’ the perfect mate, instead of acknowledging her own personal power and finding the perfection in herself.

“Sometimes a woman can spend so much time looking for who she wants, that she has no time to be who she is,” says Elayne. “I wrote YOU ARE THE ONE... to inspire and compel today's modern Black woman to develop the savvy to attract a mate that thinks the world of her because she thinks the world of herself.”

65% of African American women are single.  In fact, statistics show that African Americans are the most uncoupled demographic in the U.S.  YOU ARE THE ONE... is intended to be an essential guide for the never-married single, and the seasoned divorcee or widow, and emphasizes the fact than an enlightened woman knows who she is – why she is at a certain place in her life – where she is going, and how to get there.

Elayne has drawn upon a storehouse of personal experience in writing this book.  “It took me four cities, 6 different jobs and 3 marriages to 'grow some courage' and take a chance on myself,” says Elayne. “It meant doing the inner-work necessary to think bigger and employ the dynamic qualities that God has placed in me.  For the 'sake of love', I, like many women put my self-development on hold and stifled my needs, wants, feelings and my destiny.”  Time-tested wisdom has mandated Elayne to make it her life's mission to pass on the life lessons she learned from her relationship mistakes and provide her readers inspiration and motivation to be the very best she can be for herself and for the mate she attracts.
