Poetry helps teach both the readers and the writer. Grab a comfy seat, sit back and enjoy as I share some of my lifes lessons. 10% of authors proceeds will be donated to the MDA to help fight Muscular Dystrophy.
About the author: I was born in Minneapolis Minnesota in a tough part of town. I'm no stranger to failure, pain, heartbreak or sorrow. It wasn't until being diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy (FSH) that I stopped running from life's struggles an started facing them. I've always seen poetry as a tool for dealing with life's struggles and for teaching the world some of the lessons I've learned. Poetry helps me deal with life as it arises. I feel poetry is a gift to be shared with others. Poetry breathes life onto an empty page as well as into an empty heart. Without the gift of poetry I would not be able to truly express myself. The only person who fails is the person who has given up without giving it their best. Life is like a card game, sometimes we may get dealt what seems like a crummy hand but if we do our best and play our hand to the best of our ability we my just find we're holding a royal flush. If we give up and quit we may just flush it royally. Life is not always as it seems Robert. A. Mingo (Humanitarian Poet)
I'M still able to stand strong.
I Thank GOD I can still feed myself. Though I don't know for how long.
It's strange to watch your body fade. Knowing the strength's not coming back.
Though somehow I'M still growing strong. It's just the muscles that I lack.
Some days I must dig real deep, To find the strength to carry on.
There may be someone watching me. They may remember when I'M gone.
They'll Remember how I didn't give up, And somehow draw some strength from that.
They'll remember how I always stood. When life knocked me to the mat.
They'll see weather helping or being helped, I never tried to go it all alone.
I always looked to GOD for guidance. He kept me in the proper zone.
Feelings of anger - Sorrow and pain.
These feelings don't help us. They're all felt in vain.
As a matter of fact - They can tear us apart. They dampen our spirit, And poison our heart.
When done an injustice - It's not easy to cope.
By dwelling on it - It diminishes hope.
It's not easy to live with - Pain and regret.
It's much better by far - To forgive and forget.
